Get your account
Ways in
A student account starts in one of these ways: you register yourself, or your counsellor adds you and you get an email with a link.
Registration is open. You don't need an invite code.
A parent's account starts from an invitation the student sends from their account page (Your name at the bottom of the sidebar → My Account).
If you register yourself
- Open the registration page,
/register. - Fill in Full name, School, Email, Password and Confirm password. While you type your school, a list of schools may appear. Pick yours if you see it. If it isn't there, what you typed still counts.
- Date of birth and How did you hear about Accepted? are optional.
- Tick the confirmations. The consent section below explains them.
- Press Create account.
If the button stays grey, the line above it lists what is still missing. If your email already has an account, the error message links to Sign in and Forgot password?.
Once the account is created, you are signed in and land on your dashboard. Until your IB profile has subjects, the dashboard shows a card that says Let's build your IB profile, and it takes you to the profile. A confirmation email is on its way.
If your counsellor added you
Your counsellor adds you on their side, one student at a time or as a class list. You then get an email from Accepted with a link to set your password.
- Open the link in the email.
- Choose a password and type it twice.
- Tick the confirmations. The consent section below explains them.
- Press Activate account.
You are signed in and land on your dashboard.
If the link has expired or doesn't work, the page asks for your email. Press Resend setup link and a new link is sent. If the account is already active, the page says so and links to the sign-in page. Your counsellor can also send you a new link.
Verify your email
Accepted sends a confirmation email when you register yourself. Open the link in it, and the page confirms your address. Confirming tells Accepted that the address is real. Nothing is locked until you do.
If your address isn't confirmed yet, a notice says so on your account page (Your name at the bottom of the sidebar → My Account) and, for a student, on the dashboard. Press Resend the link in the notice to get a new link, and use the newest link you have. If your counsellor added you, no confirmation email is sent on its own, so use this notice.
The consent screen
Accepted keeps a record that each account has agreed to the privacy policy and the terms of service. A student's account also records this confirmation: I am 18 or older, or I have my parent's or guardian's consent to use Accepted.
You give these confirmations by ticking their boxes on the registration form or on the page your counsellor's link opens. A parent ticks only the privacy policy and terms.
If an account has no record of them, a Confirmation needed window opens in front of every signed-in page. It shows the boxes that are still missing. You can't close it. Tick the boxes and press Continue, or press Log out. This happens to accounts created before the set-up page asked for these confirmations.
Forgot your password
- On the sign-in page, press Forgot password?. The page is also at
/forgot-password. - Enter your email and press Send reset link.
- Open the link in the email and choose a new password.
The page gives the same answer whether or not the email has an account. If your counsellor added you and you never set a password, the email brings a set-up link instead of a reset link.
