Get a counsellor account
This page is for school counsellors. You don't register a counsellor account yourself: Accepted creates it and emails you a link to set your password.
How the account starts
An Accepted administrator adds you to your school with your name and email address. Counsellors can't invite each other, and the registration page, /register, creates student accounts only.
Accepted then emails you from noreply@getaccepted.io, with the subject "Your Accepted counsellor account". The email is in English. Its button, "Set your password", opens your set-up page.
The link is personal to you. It doesn't expire, but it works once, and it stops working when a newer link is sent to you.
An email address that already belongs to a student or parent account can't become a counsellor account. Give the administrator another address.
If you already have a counsellor account with a password, being added to a school moves your account to that school. No email is sent, and you sign in as before.
Set your password
- Open the link in the email. The page shows your email address.
- Choose a password of at least 8 characters under Password, and type it again under Confirm password.
- Tick the box that says you have read and agree to the privacy policy and the terms of service.
- Press Activate account.
Once you have started on the form, a line above the button lists what is still missing. The button stays unavailable until nothing is missing.
Accepted signs you in and opens All Students. From then on, you sign in on /login with your email address and this password. The help menu then also lists the counsellor pages.
If the link doesn't work
- The link opens Already set up. Either you have already set your password, or a newer link has been sent to you since. Use the link in the newest email, or sign in.
- The link opens This link isn't valid. Accepted doesn't recognise the link, for example because your email program cut it off. Type your email address and press Resend setup link. If your account still has no password, a new link is sent. The page says the same thing whatever address you type.
- You try to sign in before setting a password. The sign-in page says You haven't set your password yet. Check your email for your setup link. and shows Resend setup link, which sends a new link.
- You press Forgot password?. For an account with no password, this sends a set-up link instead of a reset link.
A new link you ask for in any of these ways arrives in the email Accepted sends students. Its subject is "Set up your Accepted account", and it talks about a university guidance account. The link still sets up your counsellor account.
The administrator can also add you again. If your account still has no password, that sends a new counsellor email.
What Accepted doesn't do here
You can't choose your email address on the set-up page. It is the one the administrator entered.
