What you can do with Accepted as a parent
A parent account exists because someone invited you: the student, or the student's counsellor once the student has confirmed the invitation. It lets you follow the student's applications and read their information without changing it; what you write is your family's preferences and the settings of your own account. If more than one student is linked to your account, the pages show one student at a time: the one chosen in the sidebar. Until you choose, that is the student whose invitation you accepted first. If your access to a student ended and you later accepted a new invitation for them, the order counts from that new acceptance. How the account starts and ends is in The parent account.
Applications and tasks
For each application you see the university, the programme and the deadline, with a note when the date isn't verified. You see the offers recorded for the student, and whether a counsellor has verified each one. Except on a withdrawn application's card, you also see how many of its tasks are done.
The student and the counsellor do the work; you follow it. Accepted doesn't contact universities.
The signed-in pages for this part are Follow the applications and What the labels on an application mean.
The student's profile
You can read the student's academic profile. For an IB student, that is the subjects with their levels and predicted grades, the predicted total, the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, CAS and the languages they speak. When the student has done the career quiz, you also see their latest career direction report.
The signed-in page for this part is What the student profile page shows.
Documents
You can read the documents the student has written in Accepted, such as motivation letters, personal statements, a CV and portfolio guides, and see where each one stands in the counsellor's review. Files the student uploaded are not among them, and you can't comment on or edit a document.
The signed-in page for this part is Read the student's documents.
Costs
For each application, the cost page puts the tuition, the living costs and a total for the whole programme side by side, in euros. Tuition is the fee the catalogue records. Living costs are the university's own figure or Accepted's estimate for the city. Accepted doesn't know about scholarships or what the family will actually pay.
The page that explains the figures is How the cost estimates are worked out.
Family preferences
You can tell the student what the family has in mind: a yearly budget, the countries you prefer, the countries you would avoid, and a note. The student sees them on their profile. Each linked student has their own preferences. Accepted doesn't use them to rank or filter programmes, and nothing checks the student's choices against them.
The signed-in page for this part is Share your family's preferences.
Your account and email
Your account page holds your name, your password, an email switch and the devices where you are signed in. While the switch is on, you get a summary email about the student once a week, and none in a week with nothing to list. With more than one student linked, that one email covers all of them, whichever student the sidebar shows. Accepted doesn't email you about each change. The student can end your access at any time, and so can the counsellor.
The pages for this part are Your account settings and The parent account.
Paying
A student can email a parent a link to pay for the student's pass. You don't need a parent account to use it. A pay link isn't a parent account either: it shows only what you are paying for. Paddle takes the payment, not Accepted.
The page for this part is Pay for a student's pass from a pay link.
